Privacy

This site has no accounts, no newsletter and no advertising trackers. There are no analytics scripts and no profiling.

Recommendations

When you recommend a café we store three things: the café's id, the current quarter, and two checksums — one derived from a random identifier in a cookie, the other from your IP address. Both are hashed with a secret key and cannot be reversed.

We store no email address, no name, and no IP address in the clear. The IP checksum exists only to slow down bulk voting.

Cookies

One cookie (cz_voter) is set the first time you recommend a café. It holds a random identifier and nothing else, and only stops the same café being counted twice in a quarter. If you never recommend anything, no cookie is set.

Third parties

• Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a real person is clicking. It receives your IP address and browser data, and loads only when you press the like button.
• Google Maps provides the rating shown on café pages. The panel loads only when it scrolls into view, under Google's privacy policy. We store no Google data.
• swisstopo serves the map tiles once you open the map.
